FBI virus – a hoax trying to trick you

The Federal Bureau Investigation has locked your computer because of the Copyright and Related Rights Law violation? Don‘t rush to spend your money paying the fine. This is not a true alert. It is FBI virus that got inside your computer through security vulnerabilities. This malware blocks user’s computer stating that there was illegally used or distributed copyrighted content, viewed or distributed prohibited pornographic content, etc. It also informs that the following computer is infected by a rogue and the only way to fix the problem is to pay a 100$ fine through MoneyPak.

Would you believe that real government institution will ask to pay fine through pre-paid cards ? Some of us do fall for this trick and send money to hackers.
FBI virus is distributed through infected websites or infected files. If you don’t take care of your computer’s safety, forget to upgrade your antivirus program, you may be an easy victim of this rogue. After the scam is in your machine there is nothing you can do with it. Of course, it is very easy for the hackers to convince you into spending your 100$ but don’t get caught on this hook.
However, do not take this infection lightly. You should remove FBI virus, as it might be connected with other infections and cripple your security programs.   1. The way to fix this is to reboot the PC into Safe Mode with Internet. To do this power off PC, then power back on and while it is booting up press the F8 key until you see the options for Safe Mode. Using up/down arrow keys on keyboard choose Safe Mode with Internet, then once you get logged into your PC, download the latest Free Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/), install it and then run a Full System Scan. When complete you can view and delete anything that it identifies. Then reboot PC and you should be able to get back into your PC. Run Malwarebytes again for good measure.

  2. I have this virus but it will not allow my computer to start in safe mode . it starts to load then a flash of bluescreen too fast to read then back to the f8 menu. any ideas?

  3. It’s sad some people fall for this trick. One qeustion how do the hackers get the money if it’s sent to the FBI? because they would be making a donation to the FBI wouldn’t they?
